Mesh Nets are cut from a variety of roll fabrics, with low to moderate
openness, and finished with sewn reinforced borders. Because of the lower openness,
Mesh nets are very comfortable, however those with the lowest openness would not be advisable for Boats sailing offshore
or that may be exposed to heavy seas, especially larger nets fwd of the mast.
These nets can be made to fit any shape with grommet, pipe sleeve, or webbing tab lacing,
or (depending on the stretch of the material) 1 to 3 sides may have boltrope
or cable sleeves without lacing. All mesh nets are constructed to compensate
for the material stretch by under cutting the mesh by a specific ratio
and stretching to fit the border material. Border construction is critical
to the durability of these nets, and our borders are all built with
underlying reinforcement and multiple rows of stitching covered by
a finish layer of tough vinyl coated fabric, and additional multiple
rows of stitching, in PTFE thread.

Polypropylene Mesh
more details
|
This woven mesh, available only in black, is extremely
durable with excelent UV resistance. Most polypropyelen mesh trampolines are cut on the
bias (fibers at a 45 angle to the border) which greatly increases the holding
power of the grommets, and allows the use of boltrope on all but
one side to reduce the amount of lacing. Because of the low openness
this mesh is not recommended for fwd areas of offshore yachts,
but works well on more central locations. This is the preferred
material for beach catamarans. Our experience and skill in high
quality fabrication with it is unsurpassed. |

Coated Polyester Mesh
more details
|
The Coated Polyester Mesh is a moderately open, knitted material
with our vinyl coating applied in any of the 13 available colors.
It has approximately 5/16" diameter round holes on about 1/2"
centers. This is a very attractive and comfortable mesh, and
seems to hold up well under moderate use on small to mid size nets.
The Coated Polyester Mesh does have a lower breaking strength than the other meshes so we
do not recommend its use for nets over 80 sq Ft or on commercial
use vessels. We apply the coating to this mesh while it is under
tension, to reduce the stretch, and use additional reinforcement
to help improve its durability. |

Square Hole Mesh
more details
|
This is a very strong woven mesh with 1/4" wide fibers and 1/4"
holes. It is coated with a heavy vinyl coating in white only.
The openness of this mesh is less than the that of the Coated Polyester
Mesh but it is twice as strong, so it works well on Catamarans in Charter
service, with small to moderate sized nets, that require a durable, comfortable net but do not sail offshore.
The Square Hole mesh comes in a limited width, so any nets with the narrower
dimension of more than six feet (183 cm) would have to be seamed. All seams are sewn and
covered, so the seam is not a weak point. The Square Hole Mesh has a very smooth surface that makes it a very
comfortable mateiral to lie on, however it can also be slippery when wet so it works
better on Catamrans than it does on Trimarans that can heal a bit more.
